Carcassonne Airport is located just off junction 23 of the A61 motorway.
The signposting is a bit vague so when you come off the motorway follow signs for Mazamet. You will then see signs for the airport, which is called Salvaza and is just 3km from the ancient medieval town of Carcassonne.
Carcassone is a small airport with just one terminal which handled 444,702 passengers in 2008. This is a 70% increase in passenger traffic over the past 5 years.
The airport is 91 kms from Toulouse located on the A64 which can also be reached by train in just over an hour.

There are two car parks (main and overflow) at Carcassone Airport. You take your ticket on entering the car park and then pay at the ticket machine in the terminal building before leaving.

Shopping at Carcassonne Airport
Shopping options at Carcassone Airport are somewhat limited with a single shop covered by an orange canvas awning.
They sell quote an extensive range of regional products including cassoulet, fois gras, terrines, olive oil, soaps and bath oils.
If you purchase any of these products remember that to shop before you check in as they have to be placed in your hold luggage.
The shop also sells items for your flight including a small selection of toys, books, magazines and newspapers.
Bars & Restaurants at Carcassonne Airport

The Restaurant Salvaza offers both a bar/cafe an restaurant. The bar/cafe overlooks the runway and sells drinks and hot and cold snacks.
The restaurant is more formal and specialises in regional cuisine and if you park in P2 and eat here they will validate your parking ticket for free.
