A Tour Of Montpellier

The problem with exploring a new city is that there's normally so much to see that you risk missing the really good bits. Having a guide book telling you where to do your Montpellier shopping, or where to find Montpellier restaurants or Montpellier museums is all well and good, but what you don't want to do is waste your time trying to find things that aren't actually that interesting.

What I can recommend is taking a Montpellier tour. The first type of Montpellier tour that is on offer is Le Petit Train De Montpellier. This little train takes you all through the back streets and main streets of the centre of Montpellier, pointing out all the important historical landmarks along the way. It's great fun, for little kids and big kids (by that I mean Mum and Dad).

You can find Le train at the corner of La Place de la Comedie, just next to the Gaumont Cinema. Times and prices vary slightly from year to year so check on the day to be sure. And if the train that's about to leave is full, go and find a spot outside a cafe, listen to the music and wait for the next one.

If a walking tour is more your thing, then the tourist office located just east of the Gaumont Cinema is where you should head for.

They organise guided walking tours for individuals or groups. You can choose between tours of the old town or themed tours such as;
