Restaurants In Montpellier

montpellier restaurantsMontpellier restaurants are so widespread that it would be impossible for me to list them all. It depends whether you're looking for Montpellier restaurants in the centre of town, so you can have lunch or dinner while you're out doing some Montpellier shopping. Or restaurants in the surrounding areas.

What I can tell you is that there are two areas in the centre of Montpellier where my family and I eat.

The first, and probably most obvious, are the restaurants around the Place de la Comedie. These range from fast food joints such as Mc Donalds, to Gastronomical restaurants offering local delicacies with fine wine. Or perhaps a pizza would be good?

To find Montpellier restaurants around the Place de la Comedie, you can either take a stroll and cast your eye over the menus on offer, or plan ahead by reading up on specific restaurants listed by the Montpellier tourist office or our list below.

The other place in Montpellier that we like to eat is down by the river. This part of town is nice and easy to get to by car and the view over the river is great.

Montpellier Restaurants by the river -The easiest way to get to this part of town is;

  • Exit the A9 motorway at junc 29

  • As you turn off the motorway, go north towards the centre of town, in the opposite direction to the airport.

  • As you come off the motorway you'll filter onto the D66, a two lane dual carriageway heading into the centre of town.

  • After about 3km (1.8 miles), the road will cross the river.

  • As you cross the river look down to your left. That's where you're heading.

  • Just after you cross the bridge you'll come to a set of traffic lights.

  • Turn left an the lights, and left again so that you turn back on yourself to go back across the river.

  • Just before you cross back across the river there's a single lane filter turn off to the right.

  • This will take you down into the car parking area for the restaurants.

If you fancy a stroll after dinner or lunch and feel like doing a bit of Montpellier shopping, then you can always go for a wander along the Allee de Delos. Follow this all the way to the end, where you will come to a large building with escalators going up inside. Follow the escalators and you'll come into the Polygone Centre
