Languedoc Markets

Languedoc Street & Flea Markets

languedoc marketsMost of the towns in the Languedoc region have weekly markets.  The majority of them are held in the morning until about 14.00 hours in the old parts of the towns (by the canal or in the central square).  There is always a large variety of local food specialities on sale such as seafood, herbs, fruit, vegetables, wine, cheese and cured ham.    Depending on the season and crop availability, often impromptu farmers’ markets will be held, and again according to the catch the fisherman often sell direct from their boats in the fishing villages lining the coast. Some of the larger towns also have specialized sales and flea markets selling goods which include antiques, horses or plants.

There are over 550 regular markets in this region, but rather than list them all we have picked out the main ones which offer the largest selection of goods.  But you can safely assume that whatever your holiday destination in the Languedoc, it  will have some form of market there during your stay.
