Wines of Chateau Salitis
The Chateau Salitis, one of many
wine
domaines of languedoc,
isan ancient outbuilding of the monastery
of Lagrasse, has been the property of the Depaule Marandon family for over 4
generations. Planted with quality vines since the end of last century and
extending over 100 hectares north of the city of Carcassonne,
near the village of Conques
sur Orbiel, in the production area of the Appelation Cabardes, in
the heart of the languedoc.
The red languedoc winesof Chateau Salitis are very complex in the mouth, with ripe red fruit aromas, spices, bayl and thyme and can be kept for 5 or 6 years.
The rose wines, are made by "saignees" of Syrah, Cabernet-Sauvignon and Grenache grapes. The white wines of Salitis have been awarded several medals since the beginning of this century.
Nowadays, there are about 12 hectares of white vines (Viognier and Sauvignon).
